The tamarind has in its composition, a big amount of fiber which favors all digestive processes. About 8% of the tamarind corresponds to fiber, and approximately 50% of this amount is insoluble fiber.

The fruit of this tree it's a good source of vitamin C (ascorbic acid) and vitamin B complex, on the other hand around 2% of this fruit is protein, and 0.5% is fat.

Benefits

The fruit of the tamarind tree, known scientifically as Tamarindus indica, has diuretic properties, this is because it has a lot of potassium. This property helps on liquid evacuation, thus it serves for the treatment and prevention of kidney stones and urinary tract infections. One of the best ways to exploit this property is by consuming tamarind's juice or by eating the fruit.
Tamarind has digestive properties, therefore it is wise to include it on a daily diet for people who suffer constipation and constantly slow digestion.
